Extended Family Sessions

What poses should I expect from my session?

Extended family sessions are one of my favorite type of sessions to do! That’s because I get to capture all the different family relationships. My aim is to get at least one whole group pose, then the various family relationships - from grandparents with their adult children, grandparents with their grandchildren, to each individual family. I also ask for a “must have” pose list and any other special requests. See examples to the right from an actual session.

What colors/outfits should we wear?

I understand it can be a little tricky to get everyone to wear coordinating colors. For the best colors, try to stay in the same color family. By the same color family, I don’t mean to wear all the same blues, etc. If you like soft colors, everyone can wear different soft, pastel colors (soft blues, corals, teals, soft greens, yellows). If you like darker colors, jewel tones are nice (deep greens, navy, burgundy, pops of rust or deep yellow) I would avoid everyone wearing the exact same color as you will all blend together too much. I would also void any crazy patterns as it distracts from your beautiful family!

As far as style, if you choose casual, everyone should wear casual. Same goes for semi casual and formal.

Most importantly, wear what you are comfortable in! Don’t ever hesitate to reach out for any outfit help. I’ll be more than happy to help you coordinate. Feel free to send me a picture, etc. I want you to have the best family portrait!
